Outward Ministry

Working for Christ in the Community

_facebook_-1064522312The Outward Ministry Board shares the Gospel through service and support to our local and global community. Outward Ministry evolved as we merged the old Outreach and Evangelism Boards that achieved similar goals. We support many organizations and agencies with our prayers and financial gifts, making decisions as to how to distribute Local Benevolence funds given by the congregation so that we effectively care for others and share Christ’s love.

Some of these include Faith’s Love Fund, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Habitat for Humanity, the O’Fallon Community Food Pantry, the Central/Southern IL Synod of ELCA, Unity Lutheran Christian Elementary School in East St. Louis, Programs for Young Children (Faith Lutheran’s preschool) Scholarships, Parents as Teachers O’Fallon and many others. Faith Lutheran sponsors a sister congregation in Nicaragua and regularly sends mission teams to serve with the NiCE Foundation in Nicaragua.  Families from Faith and many other local congregations gather during VBS and Thanksgiving time to package healthy nutritious meals used for the feeding programs in Nicaragua.

Outward Ministry sponsors a number of community events with other groups in the congregation  to “get the word out” to the community about who we are and what we do here at Faith.  Such events/activities as the summer Jazzfest, Ministry Fair, Mardi Gras Celebration, our Host and Hostess and Welcome Center program, DivorceCare, Financial Peace University, Faith’s Preschool and Parents as Teachers and other events that can draw folks to Christ through Faith Lutheran.  Advertising all that we offer here, challenges us to use limited budget resources to effectively promote these activities.  We are currently refreshing and expanding our congregational web site to use this 24-hour tool to share the Word and welcome all to Faith Lutheran.

If you have a passion for service or a strength at website development, contact Cari Symonds or Kie Zelms to serve with the Outward Ministry Board.
