Sunday School- (9:30 a.m. Sunday mornings…) For Junior High Youth, grades 6-8, Sunday School is a traditionally structured classroom program always taught by two teachers. During the summer a multi-age Sunday School is offered after the Children’s Sermon at 9:30 a.m. worship.
Jr. High Youth, 6th, 7th and 8th graders, (enjoy SWAGG (Super, Witty, Awesome God Groupies). We enjoy many activities together such as lock-in’s, bonfires, High Ropes Challenge course at Camp Wartburg, Youth Quake Jr. High Retreat, visiting O’Fallon Healthcare Center, and much more. The SWAGG activity schedule is located on the church calendar here.
Music Programs- Junior High/Middle School youth may join Junior Choir and Junior Chimes. These programs are offered after school or during the early evening.
Heavenly Sounds Choir sings frequently for worship services and joins the Adult Choir for special anthems periodically. This group is the core of the Children’s Christmas Musical. Contact Becky Filkins for information about Junior Choir.
Mighty Ringers is our beginning Handbell Choir, directed by Robyn Runyan. Children learn to read notes, follow rhythms and participate with others to make music together. When they are able, they offer their musical gifts during worship to the delight of the congregation. A “beginners” class is offered in the summer. Contact Robyn Runyan for information about Mighty Ringers.
Youth Winds Plus is for 5th graders to adults who enjoy playing a woodwind or brass instrument. Please contact Robyn Runyan for further information.
Serving- Junior High and Confirmation age youth often lend a hand with Faith Builders, Property Work Day, Vacation Bible School or Fellowship Events. During worship, Junior High or confirmation age youth can be found ushering or hosting, assisting as an acolyte or crucifer, or helping to set up the Fellowship cart. Junior High youth can set up for special events, help with games during Fall FunFest and the preschool PizzaFest and can help to maintain the Nature trail and outdoor classrooms on the church property. There are many ways to serve in faith at Faith.
The Youth House: The Youth House is a wonderful facility on the church property that used to be the parsonage. It was renovated in 1998 and converted into a safe and comfortable place for youth to hang out with their friends. The Youth House has many resources for youth to enjoy — TV’s, DVD/VCR players, ping-pong table, pool table, foosball table, a karaoke machine and many other games and activities which have been donated by the people of Faith Lutheran Church.
